Hi, quite new to anime but am in love with Kiwi No Na Wa. I heard there's a 'sequel' to it (Another Side - Earthbound). I'm not sure if this is the one but I heard about a novel or manga having Mitsuha's perspective of after the evacuation success from the comet? IF anyone could help that'd be great. Thanks

Buying guide for 君の名は。 / Kimi no Na wa. / Your Name.!
Hello! I wanted to make a little list of where to buy Your Name. I tried to take sources from the original distributors, going off if they don't have a store / ran out of stock in their main store. However, do shop at your favorite store as long as they have the item in stock (for me in the States, it would be Amazon, Best Buy, etc.)! Do let me know if there are other stores / places I should add to the list!

Ace went to Onigashima to help children who are kidnapped there. However Kaidou and high-ranking executives from Beast Pirates have sailed from the island at that time. So Ace ends up beating all fodders until he meets Yamato. Ace's crew urge him to go back but Ace is annoyed that someone this strong isn't even a captain, so he intends to fight Yamato. Though she has no obligation to protect the island, Yamato is bored so she will be Ace's opponent. Ace notices Yamato's handcuff and says to her "children cannot choose their parents". Ace adds she can't let they bind her heart too. Yamato is angry and destroys the dragon statue. Ace starts to like her, so he punchs the statue with his fire fist and claims responsibility saying it's his warning for Kaidou. That night, Yamato and Ace tied up Kaidou's men and then drank sake with each other. Yamato says she'll leave the island as soon as she can take the handcuff off. Then she asks Ace whether the new generation of strong people that are emerging all over the world. Ace says there's "Caven-something", "Kid" from South Blue, "Law" from North Blue, "Bege" from West Blue... But the strongest one will be his brother, who will set sail soon. Back to the present, Yamato reveals to Momonosuke she is Kaidou's daughter. Momonosuke is terrified but they come to an understanding. Momonosuke asks why Yamato mentioned Ace. Yamato: "Because he is..." Cut to Tama, she talks to Nami about how she wants to become a kunoichi as she promised with Ace. Then she learns from Nami that Ace is Luffy's brother. Cut to the Live Floor, Queen tells everyone to stop Marco at any cost. Marco tells Robin and Brook to run into the castle. He then carries Zoro and flies to the ceiling. Marco thinks back to his days with Whitebeard Pirates in a new flashback. Ace asks WB to attack Kaidou since he has a promise to fulfilled. Izou and Marco explain that they only knew about Oden's death years after it happened. After that, they talked about attacking Wanokuni many times but stopped since they know what will happen if they attack Kaidou, there will be many sacrifices. Ace asks WB to let him go alone. WB is angry saying Ace is ahead of himself thinking that he can defeat a man Oden couldn't win against. Then WB beats up Ace. Teach laughs and says he understands Ace wants to get a "big-name's head". Marco replies that is not what Ace is after. Marco and Izou talk to Ace, they say that as soon as WB gives an OK sign, they will go with Ace to Wanokuni. Back to present. King and Queen transform into dinosaurs and block Marco. Queen has guns in his mouth and shoots Marco, but bullets run through him. Queen and King say to Marco that it's no use now, the samurai will be dead soon and, after Momonosuke is killed, the war will be over. While Marco grabs Zoro with his legs, he replies. Marco: "If you think it can end that easily then you're too naïve. What you're fighting against is the ,"new era" itself!!" Cut again to Nami and Tama. Nami says it's OK, they will follow Tama's plan. Cut again to Yamato and Momonosuke. Yamato tells Momonosuke that Ace is Gol D. Roger's son, and the "sworn brother" of Luffy. Yamato: "Out of all the pirates in the world, the one who you found and brought to Wanokuni is Luffy. This must be the work of fate itself. After all, Luffy has a "D" in his name...!" When Yamato finishes, she pulls out Oden's journal. Cut to Onigashima's rooftop. Big Mom is waiting for Luffy with Kaidou. Zeus and Prometheus ate cloud and fire so now they are back to 100% strength. Big Mom says Kaidou he can kill whoever he wants but he must leave Nico Robin alive. Kaidou: "Isn't there a three-eye race girl in your crew? Can she not read the ancient letters?" Big Mom: "I don't know but I can't wait for her eyes to truly open anymore." Big Mom asks where Kaidou intend to drop the island. Kaidou replies he'll drop it on top of the castle, the symbol of Kozuki. Big Mom: "So is the Road Poneglyph there?" Kaidou: "Isn't it a bit too fast to reveal your true intention?" Big Mom: "Don't look down on me!Even right now, I still regard you as my younger brother. Remember, the day Rocks fell! I was the one who gave you ,"Uo Uo no Mi, mystical type" (Uo=fish) on God Valley!!That is the debt you will owe me forever." Kaidou: "Say whatever you want. Let's just deal with it after..." Big Mom and Kaidou: "We found the One Piece!!!" JUMPBREAK NEXT WEEK (But the scans and spoilers for Ch. 1000 will leak around a week before its official release which is slated for 4/1)
The Alternate Universe Ending Theory: A complete log of all the evidence
(This is long, but I promise it's worth your time. If I had to place a $500 bet on any AOT ending, I'm going all in on this. Thanks for reading!) Having been on my university break for quite some time now, I have spent my time arduously attempting to figure out the finale of Attack on Titan. I have created document after document, chatted with other fans, scoured forums; many people have devised some strong theories. However, there is one manga panel that is rarely mentioned and it is one I cannot move past: 'Goth' Mikasa and 'Nerd' Armin (from the Attack on School Castes) appearing in Chapter 120 of the main story. Here is the panel I am referring to. This shows Eren's PAST memories. Notice the shard in the very top left corner? When we zoom in, we can see that this is 'Goth' Mikasa and 'Nerd' Armin. Take note of Mikasa's hairstyle and Armin's glasses... See Mikasa's hairstyle and Armin's glasses? For those who are unaware, the 'Attack on School Castes' is an alternate universe where the characters from Attack on Titan live a simple, peaceful life and attend high school. They are included alongside the official manga as 'previews,' and are published at the end of each volume, starting with Volume 21. Though there are clear comedic purposes to these previews, there are important events that take place in this alternate universe. I will now summarise these quickly, as they serve as the foundation for this theory:
In this alternate universe, Eren is seen as a 'nobody,' and is very bored with his life. 'Goth' Mikasa and 'Nerd' Armin befriend Eren because he 'protected' them.
One day, Eren has a dream that he was fighting a zombie apocalypse at his high school. He woke up from this dream crying.
After this dream, Eren continually mentions that his life is boring; he wishes that his dream was real, just so his life would be more interesting. He wishes to become a 'threat to all of humanity' just so 'something interesting would happen.' (I'll post this panel below, as I believe it is important).
Then Ymir Fritz is on the scene, and she is worshipped as a God. Eren is the only one who can see her.
Reporter: What's your favourite fake preview? Isayama: Definitely the High School Caste AU. Even though there are only two pages each time, I spend about five pages worth of time and energy to complete them. Reporter: What’s the appeal of that AU? Isayama: If possible, I want to draw something that is linked to the original manga’s universe. That’s how I’m approaching it now.
The interview was conducted on July 20th, 2019. Chapter 120, where Goth Mikasa and Nerd Armin appeared in the past memory shards, was published on August 9th, 2019 - only a few weeks later. This suggests to us that this memory shard was no mere easter egg - but may potentially open up the possibility of alternate universes in Attack on Titian. This brings me to the next piece of the puzzle: One of Isayama's primary sources of inspiration for Attack on Titan is Muv Luv Alternative. In fact, he even stated that the ending was similarly inspired by Muv Luv. Here's the kicker: The Muv Luv franchise is based around alternate universes. So, to investigate further, I watched various Muv Luv play-throughs and scoured their wiki. I discovered that the similarities between Muv Luv and AOT are striking, for example:
Both stories involve mindless giants; in AOT these are Titans, in Muv Luv these are BETAs (which are aliens).
Both stories involve 3D manoeuvring gear.
Both stories have similar arcs.
In Muv-Luv, there are certain characters who obtained powers as a byproduct of science mishap, and though they are very powerful, they suffer headaches as a result of this; parallels with Mikasa and the Ackerman powers.
The memory shard of Goth Mikasa and Nerd Armin was in the past. This means Eren was living in the Attack on School Castes alternate universe first.
In the Attack on School Castes alternate universe, Eren was tired of his boring life and wanted 'something to happen.' He wanted to destroy humanity. This was his wish.
In the Attack on School Castes, he made a deal with Ymir for this to come true.
Everything we have seen from the moment Eren woke up in Chapter 1 of the AOT main manga is a result of Eren's wish being fulfilled. This parallels the plot of Muv Luv, the game we know Isayama took great inspiration from.
I then re-read the manga and re-watched the anime in an attempt to either prove/disprove this theory. My verdict is: it made more sense.Way more sense. I will attempt to explain the plot of AOT (simplified) through this new lens, and this forms the basis of my evidence for this theory:
In the beginning of AOT, Eren expressed the same boredom and desire for something to happen.
Then something did happen; the titans. Humanity was being destroyed, just as Eren in the previous High school Universe wished for.
Just as in Muv Luv, Eren's memories of a past, alternate universe would have been wiped (which as a side note, would parallel nicely with the implied memory wiping that the 145th King conducted on Eldians). Because of this, Eren believes he is fighting titans, saving humanity, and is none the wiser.
Until, however, he kisses Historia's hand. We still don't know all of what Eren saw. However, if this theory is correct, then I am willing to bet he saw that all of this destruction was his wish from the start in a past alternate universe. (And I mean, his face doesn't look too happy).
This explains the panel where Eren is talking to Ramzi perfectly. Eren expresses regret over what is to come (ie. The Rumbling) with the words 'I wished for it. I wanted to wipe it all way.' Wished = past tense. Wanted = past tense.
It also explains this scene where Eren reflects on kissing Historia's hand retroactively. He says 'even if this was set in stone from the start,' and 'even if this is what I wanted.' Again; wanted = past tense.
It similarly explains the scene with Hange, where Eren seemingly begs them for 'another way.' However, as mentioned before, there is no other way. This was set in stone from the start due to Eren's wish to destroy humanity. All he can do is to keep moving forward.
Since kissing Historia's hand, Eren knows this is all his fault. This is why his attitude and demeanour changes drastically since that occasion. It's why he tries to push away his friends. This regret and shame is foreshadowed in the Attack on Castes panel, where Eren says (rather grimly) 'it's all because I wanted to destroy the world.'
So, if Muv Luv led me to discover these parallels, then can the plot of Muv Luv Alternative similarly predict the ending of Attack on Titan? (And let's recall, Isayama himself said the ending of AOT is inspired by Muv Luv). In a nutshell, the ending of Muv Luv Alternative depicts the main character leaving the alternate universe of destruction for his 'previous world'. He loses all of his memories, and everyone will similarly forget him and what he did. To translate to Attack on Titan:
Eren won't stay in the current universe of destruction (what we know as the current world of Attack on Titan).
Everyone will forget him and what he did, and he will travel (most probably) to the Attack on School Castes universe where he previously resided. Presumably, the other characters will 'travel' too.
In this universe, I believe there will be two options: Eren will 'wake up' as the same age he was in the Attack on School Castes previews, and the last chapter will also include a timeskip that shows Eren as an adult; OR, Eren will 'wake up' in this universe and time will have passed (Eren in Chapter 1 was 10, Eren in Chapter 139 will be 19/20; so 10 years will have passed). Eren depicted as an adult is an important detail (and this will be discussed further below).
"Let's start a new life from the darkness" "Destruction and regeneration. You are the real enemy." "Time to leave school, stepping in others shadows. When I noticed, I was alone at dawn." "It's okay to cry for now. I have to get ready for tomorrow. I have to do my homework and go to bed. My war."
Contrastingly, the Season 4 closing song appears to foreshadow the ending, whereby Eren and his friends will return back to their previous alternate universe, losing all memories and proof that they ever existed in the universe of destruction (what we see in Attack on Titan); see some of the notable lyrics below:
"Someone please disperse The proof that I existed here Even if my bones turned to sand and disappeared I'm alive."
Finally, I want to point out two 'bonus' puzzle pieces.
The first puzzle piece is a key detail that many overlook: the story about the miner in Episode 25 of the anime. You can read Part 1 and Part 2 here.
To summarise this story that appeared in the anime intermission: There was a miner that originally dreamt of a better life and as such, wanted to dig his way into Wall Sina. He was an expert at digging, doing so for 20 years. One night, he finally attempted to dig to a better life; but no matter what he did, it was no use. On the brink of giving up, his friend instead insinuated he should accept and be happy with 'his lot in life.' It was then revealed that the miner suddenly disappeared without a trace, even the pit he had dug had disappeared. His friend also vanished, never to be seen again. As a parallel, Eren Yeager is currently 19 years old. His birthday is March 30, which is directly before the release of the final chapter of Attack on Titan (April 9). Symbolically speaking, Eren will be 20 in the last chapter of the series. This correlates to the 20 years mentioned in the story of the miner; Eren has been trying, fighting and battling for 20 years, and though it is theorised that he caused this mess in the first place, he too is striving for a better life (as he often refers to 'that scenery.') That better life can be found in an alternate universe, which is why Eren and friends will similarly disappear without a trace (just like the miner and his friend); they will be finally free from the destruction that Eren wished for.
The second puzzle piece is that the Attack on Titan manga will end with Chapter 139.
This is rather strange, considering that almost all AOT volumes have included 4 chapters and concluded with an even-numbered chapter. Yes, this could simply be a coincidence or an over-sight. However, it's interesting that when looking at Numerology, the number 139 represents 'the end of a cycle; it is not a 'real' death, but just the end of one period, and therefore the beginning of another.' This perfectly aligns with Isayama's own words, as when he was asked about the ending of Attack on Titan, he simply replied 'it's just the beginning!' Now I know what you may be thinking; 'what about the infamous final panel? How does that work with this theory?' This could go a number of ways, but I think a huge clue is the parallels between Grisha and Eren's love interests. I will break it down:
Grisha first married Dina, who is of royal blood.
They birthed a child, Zeke. This child of royal blood was born to be utilised as a weapon; arguably not 'free.'
Grisha, then on the brink of death, was given a second chance at life behind the walls. He then married Carla.
They birthed a child, Eren. This child wasn't raised to be a weapon, and appears to have an innate desire to achieve freedom (even if that restriction and destruction was implemented by him in the first place).
So, if this theory is correct, let's look at how this parallels with Eren:
Eren and Historia appear to be allied together at the moment (a whole separate host of evidence for this, but if I digress this theory will be too long). Notably, Historia is also of royal blood; parallels to Dina.
It is likely at this stage that Eren is the father of Historia's child (again, also has evidence but too lengthy for here). Unless the titan curse is broken in the next 3 chapters, or so as long as the people of Paradis are considered 'subjects of Ymir,' this child will not be born free (and the popular reincarnation theory similarly dictates this to be so); parallels to Zeke.
However, if Eren and the other AOT characters 'wake up' in the Attack on School Castes alternate universe, where presumably time has passed, it is likely that Eren will have a 'second chance,' similar to Grisha; however, this time with Mikasa. (And for further proof, this panel in the Attack on School Castes previews shows that Eren clearly has romantic feelings for Mikasa).
If Eren and Mikasa have a child together in this alternate universe (where again, presumably time has passed), this child will be truly free - as it was not born in THAT world of destruction that Eren wished for, and has now escaped from. This is what I believe the last panel will show, and this was eerily foreshadowed already (see below):
We know that as of her father's side, Mikasa is an Ackerman. They are resistant to the powers of the Founding titan; including memory wiping.
Mikasa is also apart of the 'Oriental' bloodline (through her mother). They are also resistant to the powers of the Founding titan, and again, this includes memory wiping.
This means that despite being Eldian and able to enter the Paths, both sides of her bloodline are resistant to memory wipes. This puts Mikasa in a very unique position.
And, when you think about it, the plot point that some clans (such as the Ackerman's and the Oriental Clan) are resistant to the memory wipes has been rather fruitless and purposeless so far. It was not used to reveal any information on the outside world - so why else would Isayama include this detail?
We know that in Muv Luv, when characters exited an alternate universe, their memories were wiped. What if, when travelling from the previous (Attack on School Castes) universe to the AOT universe (what we see in Chapter 1), Mikasa's memories were not fully wiped?
This would explain this panel in Chapter 9 where Mikasa says Armin's abilities have saved them 'many times in the past,' and Armin is confused as to when this occurred.
Similarly, this panel of Mikasa saying 're-opening the same old wound... do I really have to start everything anew yet again?
What is most convincing are these panels in Chapter 6. Mikasa sees Eren is being choked, and she says 'I'd seen this scene before, over and over again.' She then follows this up in the next panel, talking about the 'cruelty of THIS world.' Again, saying THIS world, rather than THE world.
Most importantly is the phrase 'come back home,' of which Mikasa says to Eren multiple times throughout the manga. Instead of interpreting it literally, what if Mikasa is referring to 'home' as the previous alternate universe in which they came from?
In fact, in Mikasa's character song, there are multiple important lyrics that link to this theory and going 'back home' with Eren:
" When I woke up again, At that moment… I found you" "You are my home to return to, no matter where you are."
In linking with this, the OST 'Name of Love' also potentially foreshadows this theory and Eren and Mikasa meeting again at the finale:
"Goodbye world. Our shadows, standing side by side, do not cross each other." "somewhere in this world, if we can meet in the future, please dont forget... about me"
Though I feel pretty confident about other aspects of this theory, I am not 100% sure whether Mikasa has retained her memories or not. Irrespective of this, if this alternate universe theory proves to be true, then I still believe it is likely that the final chapter will include Mikasa and the scarf, and the phrase 'lets go home' when going back to the original alternate universe. Now, answering some of the questions/complaints I can anticipate in the comments:
"A parallel universe is unlikely and comes out of no where."
Not necessarily true. The fact that Eren was able to change Grisha's memories without causing a paradox implies that multiple or alternative universes can indeed exist. Further, there have been various hints throughout the series already; such as the Paths and the ability to transcend time, as well as all the symbolism of rebirth and second chances (especially in the latest manga chapters).
"Eren and Ymir making a deal in the Attack on School Castes (previous/original universe) seems like a reach."
Well, have you considered the original painting of Ymir and the Devil, making some sort of deal? We know that Founder Ymir gained her titan powers from an unknown organic material when falling into the tree... so what else could these paintings be depicting, I wonder? And let's not forget who is currently seen as the Devil... (*cough Eren*). Further, it's rather interesting; Ymir was the original 'Founding Titan,' meaning she had the ability to wipe all memories. If she was the one involved with Eren in the School Castes universe (where she is viewed as a 'God'), and partook in his deal, this could explain how the new universe (and subsequently wiped memories of the previous universe) came to be. Further, I believe that in Norse Mythology, 'Ymir' was symbolic of the creation of Earth; this could potentially be excellent symbolism of the role Ymir Fritz plays in the creation/manipulation of the two universes I am theorising about. Additionally, and this might be the most concrete proof of all; if we go back to the Chapter 120 manga panel with the memory shards of Eren's past (the one with Goth Mikasa and Nerd Armin), down the bottom left is Ymir Fritz. Eren hadn't met her yet, so why was she in Eren's past memories at this stage? Unless, of course, they'd already met in a previous alternate universe to make the aforementioned 'deal.' Ymir Fritz in the Chp 120 memory shard panel; depicting Eren's 'past' memories. As a final note; the first Chapter of AOT when Eren wakes up from his 'dream' is titled, 'To you, 2000 years from now,' and then the Chapter when Eren finally reunites with Ymir Fritz is titled 'From you, 2000 years ago.' What does Eren say in the latter chapter? It ends now. "Okay, but why The Rumbling? It doesn't seem like Ymir or Eren want this." This is the one thing that Isayama would be yet to explain, and is a probable reason as to why Eren and Ymir's true motivations and points of view have been shrouded in mystery. However, if we theorise that Eren made a deal with Ymir in the past alternate universe to 'destroy humanity,' then Eren must fulfil this deal and either complete that mission, or be killed in the process. This was hinted already during the scene where Eren Kurger says to Grisha 'if you want to save Armin and Mikasa, then you need to fulfil your mission.' If we know that attack titan inheritors are connected- then perhaps was this meant for Eren? Is this why he 'keeps moving forward?'
"But I've seen X, Y, Z theory and it sounds much more plausible."
The beauty of this theory is that there will be essentially two endings; a conclusion to the universe we see in Attack on Titan (most likely Chapter 137 and 138), and then a conclusion to the entire story (Chapter 139), of which I predict will be Eren and co. travelling back to their previous universe and finally being 'free.' So, your favourite theory within the AOT universe could still happen.
"There's only a few chapters left, I doubt this will happen."
Actually, the fact that there are only a few chapters left strengthens this theory. Just as in Muv Luv, and just as in that story of the miner digging under the wall - the characters suddenly vanish. 3 chapters is not a lot of space to tie up every last loose end, but this isn't needed if Eren and his friends suddenly travel to their previous universe. Also, consider again the picture of the Tybur children in the school uniform. They are a little older in that photo (maybe 5-7 years or so older). If the last panel is of Eren holding Historia's baby (with no alternate universes), then you'd also need to have a time skip to show these Tybur children... that doesn't work out. However, if there is an alternate universe where time has passed... it does.
"Isayama said the story doesn't have a happy ending, this is a happy ending!"
"From a narrative point of view, this ending sucks. It's cliche and I've seen it done before."
First and foremost, I don't think Isayama could ever create an ending where everyone is happy (I mean, just look at the divide in the community between Jeagerist and Alliance supporters). However, I do think he could create an ending that no one would expect - and this theory is exactly that. Yes, there are plenty of isekai animes, or stories involving alternative universes - but it seems that most of these characters travel in time/space for benevolent reasons. I personally haven't seen a story where a character travels to an alternate universe purely to destroy it, just because he was 'bored' and 'wanted something to happen.' It would also mean that for over a decade, Eren was the true villain of the story, and we were none the wiser. What better way to betray your readers than that? TL;DR: Goth Mikasa and Nerd Armin from the 'Attack on School Castes' appear in a memory fragment of the AOT main story (Chapter 120). Isayama also recently confirmed that these School Caste alternate universe previews would be linked to the main story. I believed that this could prove the existence of alternate worlds in Attack on Titan, and thus began my research. I discovered that Isayama drew great inspiration from a game called Muv Luv Alternative; a story about alternate universes, and similarly found significant parallels between the two. I then devised a theory that Eren existed FIRST in the Attack on School Castes universe and due to his boring life, wished to destroy the world. He made a deal with Ymir to do so, and hence Chapter 1 of AOT is the result of this wish being fulfilled. As in Muv Luv, Eren's memories of a previous world are wiped, and he believes he is saving humanity- until he kisses Historia's hand and realises that all this destruction was his wish from the start. I predict that in the final chapter of the AOT manga, Eren and the other characters will 'wake up' back in the previous/original alternate universe (School Castes), this is how they will be truly free.
Hori could not write a female character to save his life
Oh god another BNHA rant. It's not my fault this series is so easy to criticize. Quick Disclaimer: this started out as a reply to a comment about why ochako isn't a main character and then turned into a rant about female characters as a whole in BNHA. Also containers manga spoilers. The problem is that Hori thinks we should care about Uraka and believe she is a main character for the most minimal things First things first it's how she exist almost entirely as Dekus love interest. Because deku and ochako do not have much interactions within the entire series hori needs to build their relationship on small doses of uraka's romantic feelings towards Deku. We never get this same treatment for Deku, in fact we have no true idea how Deku feels for her. Not in the same way hori capitalized on ochako's inner feelings at least. The most we get from Deku is him blushing after a comment she makes or something. And I'm not saying this needs to turn into a love show...the love interest is quite literally a love interest and nothing else because it's so one sided. When it comes to her motivations the most we learn is that she's becoming a hero for money. Which in my opinion is far more interesting than "I have to save people". Dear god I know this series is called my hero academia so saving people should be your number one priority but the amount of times I hear that from almost every character gets extremely tiresome. It is a hero society after all so there must be SOME other forms of motivations. Anyways, instead of building off of this more or maybe even seeing a personal evolution of how she wants to be a hero to actually save someone...we don't get anything. He never revisits this important part of her character, of any hero with any female hero of this series. And that's the problem with my hero academia for female characters is that we get absolutely no character arc for any females. Sure we have cool looking female characters with amazing quirks. Momo, Muriko, and Mina come to mind. But what purpose do they serve to the plot? Is it in an integral way where if you remove one of them the series won't be the same? Nana and Eri are exceptions because they were by default But we don't get any long overarching plots for any of them like how we do for Todoroki, Bakugo, and Deku I can name so many reasons off the top of my head for why any of the origin trio wants to be heros. Even for Todoroki who hasnt been explored as much as the wonder duo, but it's sprinkled throughout the manga if you look hard enough. Why are most of the female heros only rescue heros? Why did Ochako and Asui get sidelined in the overhaul arc? Why did Neijere never get the same amount of attention as the other two for the whole (and unnecessary) big three arc? Why was Mina about to be the one to put the anesthesia in machia but then Kirishima had to steal the spotlight? Why give Hawks a character arc but not muriko? (Similar to the big three situation where new heros are introduced and only the male ones get any backstory) Why kill off the only known pro female hero teacher at UA? Why are most of the top ten heros, teachers, pro heros we know of male? Why does toga, the only female villain in LoV, have to be in love with Deku? Why are the adult female characters made out to be perverted in some comedy segments? I mean cmon at this point I'm just bouncing off the walls in different directions but you can pull a massive flaw from almost any female character in the series. Most of them suffer from lack of characterization syndrome. What makes the whole thing worse is how likeable all of these female characters are. They have amazing character designs, flashy quirks, creative quirks, and have shown glimpses of glory. Yet...since they're female they'll never get any sort of character development. They're just shiny toys in horis eyes. I know this is a problem with shounen series in general but their are exceptions out there. Sadly BNHA isn't one of them.
I have 6 Pages of unclaimed humble keys (with claimed keys hidden) I don't personally plan on claiming so I figure I give some away. it's mostly from old monthly/choices and some from the current built to survive bundle. **Edit: Some keys have been given out if you didn't get a message don't worry! I'll be going through comments throughout the day!** **2nd Edit: I'm closing the giveaway but i am still messaging the people who commented within the time it was open!** I'll be choosing random comments throughout the day. To make sure people are reading the entire post feel free to comment the name of your favorite character from ANY show / movie / anime / manga / game / book. For those really curious this is part of the list of games (Note: I Did not include any from the choice system in the list here mainly cause I was too lazy to go through each month but they WILL be given out as well) https://pastebin.com/a5A4H3j8
DisclaimerI want to thank everyone for the gilds, replies and suggestions. I just do not have time to reply to everyone, but I am reading everything. I am not sure how much bigger the thread can be, I already typed this but it vanished so I think I'm at the limit. I will try to keep updating, but I don't expect the thread to be up top for much longer and will likely vanish soon, so if you need anything save it. Yes, it's hard, it sucks, it's depressing. It is something we all have to do if you want to see this virus go. Everyone knows the deal, too many think they're the exception but no one is. However, staying home is hard so maybe I can help at least one or two people with some incentives. I'll try to give links to some things that can help cure the boredom, and some support if you need it. Most of this might be obvious to some, some might not even have internet and of course, money is a big issue, so I'll try to give some suggestions: For streaming and on demand things such as Netflix et al, don't forget you can subscribe for free for your first month. This goes for most things in the list. If you are worried about putting in your payment details and forgetting to cancel a month later, don't worry! You can sign up and immediately cancel and you still get your free month! For people who don't have a smart TV, you can buy a cheap Amazon Fire TV stick or a Roku box. The Fire stick can go as low as £20 often for 1080p. It will drop to £30 for 4k. I picked up a 4k Roku device for £18 on Amazon once. It's fast and snappy. currently it's going for £33 for the 4k version. Having both, there is little difference between the devices. NowTV also do their own roku powered device. Subscription based streaming sites that all offer 2-4 weeks free for first timers
Netflix *According to comments the second month is free.
Amazon Prime You can either get Amazon video on its own, or take prime with other benefits. I strongly urge those who use Amazon for buying off their store front to use [https://smile.amazon.co.uk/] as there is literally no difference except everything you buy amazon donates to a charity of your choice.
Amazon channels. I believe you can get all these individually but Amazon offers them as channels bound to your prime account, and they are again either free for a couple weeks (again, take them, cancel instantly) or very cheap. I recently subscribed to Starzplay for £1 for 3 months. It has some good shows on it like Fringe, doom patrol. It also has channels like Curiosity stream and shudder
If you have not subscribed to the any of the above, you can get a few months of free TV by signing up and cancelling instantly. I suggest waiting at least 5 minutes just to let it go through the system. Some tips for Now TV. IF you already have a subscription, I've noticed you can get it cheaper by cancelling. When you cancel they will beg you to stay. Select "I can not afford it this month" and they should beg again, telling you what shows they have. If you say you still want to cancel, they'll beg one last time and offer you the subscription for cheaper. This won't work every month, but I've noticed they'll always offer it the first time, then again after a couple months. If you're subscribed to both films and entertainment do the most expensive one as it may not work both times (but it might!). You can also pick up passes from storefronts a lot cheaper sometimes, before I could pick one up on Amazon for £3 but, they seem to have cracked down on it. If you shop around (or if anyone knows of a legitimate store please let me know) you might be able to pick it up cheaper. Lastly, check their website and under your account they should have an "offers for you" section. Completely free TV
If you do have a smart TV and/or device, there are some good free streaming apps. One I really love is called PlutoTV. I know this is on both Roku and the fire stick, as well as Ps4/Ps5 and xbox. Pluto offers a bunch of live channels and now an on demand section, all for free. It has adverts but they are actually short (shorter than regular TV and fewer of them). Some of the channels are just streaming certain shows like Mythbusters 24/7 or Dog the bounty hunter, but it has a lot of old movie channels as well as 24/7 kickboxing and MMA. It also has a 24/7 poker channel I quite like. Another one I like is Rakuten Viki however, I haven't watched it for a while as my fire stick is only 1080p and I have too many other devices attached. I believe it is on Roku but you have to jump through some hoops and have an account. The last I checked on the fire stick you did not. Viki offers a metric ton of Asian shows, mainly from Japan and South Korea but it does have chinese, Malaysian etc. It has subtitles. Some Japanese shows are hysterical, albeit weird. Roku also do their own channels with free shows if you own a device. For those who don't have a smart TV or a Streaming device, you can set up your own computer as a dedicated streaming device with Plex. It's been a while since I used it but I believe it now also offers free movies and TV. Anime If you are into Anime there is
The first 2 are free to watch, or offer premium without ads which you can have a trial with. Crunchyroll is the better of the two with more original choice for Japanese voice and subs, while Funimation has more Dubs. I don't believe HiDive is free to watch but you do get a 2 week trial. These are more exclusives than the previous two. PC Centric software If you are a gamer or like Audiobooks or anything that uses computers for things like music making, programming or graphic design
Humble Bundle offers, as per the name, bundles. A long running site that got bought out by IGN. It offers both single items and bundles you can buy individually/as a pack while also offering a separate monthly subscription for around £8-9. The subscription gives you 12 games on average per month. That's the simplest explanation but it changes somewhat as sometimes you get to pick 10 out of 14 games, or get all 12. Humble bundle offers more than just games though. Every Tuesday they bring a new bundle of games, while Thursday (I "think) a new bundle of books. They very often have books from the Black Library giving you a ton of Warhammer books. Sometimes it's standard E-books, other times it's audiobooks. A few times a year they do bundles for graphic design, a typical bundle would include programs like Paintshop Pro Corel Painter etc, They usually go for £0.76 for tier 1 up to around £18 for tier 3, which would include 4-6 full titles with 10+ addons. They also often have Music making bundles or video editing software as well as Programming or video game development. The bundles change often, they usually have around 11 bundles at a time that last for 20 days. Sometimes it's trash but they do often have some very good deals. Fanatical offers the same as humble bundle except usually not as high quality, but sometimes they do have some incredible deals, and they are very very cheap. Both humble and fanatical are safe, trusted and been around a long time, and they are NOT grey market key sites. They work with the publishers and developers. You can buy games both old and new for a lot cheaper than you would most other places. Unless it states otherwise, keys are usually for steam. **BOTH HB and Fanatical (HB much more common) offer free games fairly often. The catch is linking your steam account to them (at least HB). It is safe however. IndieGala is another site like above. Except, these are much much lower quality. However, they offer a metric ton of free games. Quality is low but it is legitimate, and a lot of free stuff. Game Store Fronts
Steam This one is so obvious I didn't add it, but apparently many want me to. It is the best out there, and you can find almost everything, with fantastic deals.
Greenmangaming offers games cheaply. Again, not a grey market site (which are legal but unethical) and they sometimes do bundles.
GoG (Good old games) is a DRM free site run by CDPR, the makers of the Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk. They offer you games quite cheap and not needing DRM (such as Steam, Uplay etc which is less invasive versions of dodgy DRM from the olden days).
Epic Games Despite the controversy whether you care about their rivalry with valve, they offer free games ever week. Without ever having bought anything I have gained over 170 games. literally. Good games for the most part. They often give you £10 coupons as well.
Twitch Everyone knows twitch, but if you don't, it's a streaming service for watching gamers and girls with low cut tops accidentally bending over in front of the game. However, if you're signed up to prime, you get free games each month (and randomly between the set bunch).
Playstation Store Currently has January sales. Currently the free games for PS+ are for PS4: Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Greedfall. For the Ps5 it is Maneater
Games with GoldBleed 2 and the King of Fighters XIII is available until Janurary 15th whilst little Nightmares is available until January 31st.
Gaming Subscriptions Like the TV versions, you can sign up to these for a free trial (or very cheap). If you do sign up to only one at a time, it should keep you busy for a few months
Xbox Game Pass You can do this on both/either an Xbox or PC. If you sign up to the regular one, you can get a month (maybe three!) for £1. After you have done that, you can sign up to the premium version for 3 months at £1 a month. Most people know game pass, but you can download a large selection of games for free. The premium version gives you games with gold, allowing you to keep the games forever (but can only play with a subscription)
Ubisoft+ I'm not 100% sure if you get a trial or not. This allows a large collection of Ubisoft titles to play for £12.99 a month. Quite expensive but good if you like Ubisoft titles I guess.
EA Play EA's version. Goes by a ton of names I think, EA Access, EA Play, Origin Access etc etc. There's a couple of versions of this, and it is across all platforms (PS4/5, Xbox, PC) but not sure about the switch. I "think" the premium allows you to play on all platforms, while the cheaper one on a single platform, but I may be mistaken.
PS Now a once terrible service that is now actually very good. Allows you to download some Ps4 games to your PS4/5 and lets you stream a massive amount of Ps2/3/4 to your PC or playstation.
There's more like nvidia's service but you need the Shield device which is quite expensive. I'll leave it at that. Audiobooks & Ebooks
Audible Not sure what the current deal is but if you are a prime member you can sign up for a trial and get a free Audiobook each month for 3 months. Some warhammer books are 48 hours long, 3 of those gives you a good 100+ hours of listening!
Comixology Another Amazon company, but lets you download some free comics I believe.
Sign LanguageBSL here No experience myself, suggested by n21brown and asked for a few times. Didn't know SL was so popular! Listed as "Pay what you can"
BBC's Bitesizehere is apparently good for home learning. Again, no personal experience.
If you need some spare change Okay, I don't generally bother with it, but maybe some of this could be useful to you. These are NOT a quick way to make a fortune. These are small things you can do over time for a bit of pocket change
If you have prime you can get a FREE FIVE POUND GIFT CARD by literally just streaming a song from Amazon music (which is included in prime) here is the detailsAccording to the comments it's only for select people, but it's worth trying If the link doesn't work for you just google "Amazon £5 coupon music"
Now, these sorts of sites have been around for years, I haven't used any other than talkInsights which I must have signed up to 10-15 years ago. Basically they send you surveys and you answer them. They are confidential and don't ask for personal details in the survey. You need 2000 points and you get £20. During the pandemic they've slowed down but I probably get around £40 a year. Not much I know, but it's an email followed by a quick survey ticking boxes. Depending on your answer sometimes you get screened out, I'm not telling you to lie but just be consistent with your answers and you should be able to work out how to not get screened. Some emails are only worth 20 points, others 200. It's slow to get to the 2000 but very quick to just answer a few questions.
Apparently beermoneyuk is a good sub to make some pocket change with.
There is also matched betting. I have never done this, I don't have the patience but from what I've read, it's legitimate, it works and you can make a fair amount of cash from it so long as you do it correctly, and there's a ton of guides. I mention this because people stuck at home could get into it and as long as you're careful (I.E not entering in the wrong numbers) it's risk free AND it pisses off the betting shops. It seems people in comments have had success with it. Disclaimer A couple have complained about gambling. This arguably is not gambling. If you are susceptible to addiction do not do it. However, it's argued that there is no fun or buzz in this, and it's a very tedious and time consuming thing. Others argue you can't make the same money anymore (People were making thousands, now only hundreds if that). It's risk free providing you know what you're doing, the risks are user error, such as entering the wrong numbers. Someone pointed out that due to the lockdown, bets could potentially be cancelled due to sport stopping. So use on a side of caution. We're (mainly) adults so I'll leave it up just because this doesn't have the excitement of regular gambling.
Microsoft Rewards This is an easy way to make pocket change doing very little. Most people have a MS account. The rewards program offers you numerous ways to grab points, by playing free to play games, answering small questions (you don't even need to answer most of the time, just open the link and shut it) and by using bing and searching on it. I've gotten 20k points JUST by answering questions over a couple months. There are many rewards but you can grab a £5 gift card for 6k for example, or a month of game pass (and AFAIK you can make points playing the games)
Google rewards Someone mentioned this in the comments. I have not used it, so can not give any input on it. Sounds similar to TalkInsights which I linked. Google states "Complete short surveys while standing in line, or waiting for a subway. Get rewarded with Google Play or PayPal credit for each one you complete. Topics include everything from opinion polls, to hotel reviews, to merchant satisfaction surveys. We’ll notify you when a survey is waiting."
That's it for now. I will try to update as I go along. A long post but I hope that it can help some of you with finding something good to do that's free, cheap or a bargain. I do suggest getting prime, especially since you get free music, free delivery, free TV and music and free video games each month. In fact, there's a ton of perks and I feel I've gotten way over the cost investment. Hope it helps someone at least PartTimeCrazy said if you bought an Apple product you get 3 free months of Apple Arcade and Apple TV free for a year fakehunted is upset I didn't mention wanking. Tesco have 225 sheets of Tissue for £0.75! tale_lost suggested Project Gutenberg for a collection of free E-Books Learning Language Unfortunately, I don't have time to check every link listed so I will link the comments: TogtogtogGives a lot of links for Spanish
Board & Tabletop games Corporal_Anaesthetic has made a list of Board games ilyemco suggested these HEALTH I'm not a doctor! But if you're a smoker, something I strongly suggest is to quit. I struggled for years but in the first lockdown I quit, technically. I haven't had a cigarette since, however, I do that silly thing millennials do. I vape, but, it made quitting extremely easy. I would not have been able to do it if it wasn't for 88Vape They sell extremely cheap liquids at £1 each. You can find these in B&M but you can pick up 25 for £20 or buy your own mix. Vitamin D deficiency has been said to be a big problem for the virus. I'd suggest (again, not a doctor!) that you pick some up. Tesco do a 3 for 2 deal. So you can pick up 270 tablets for £7. If you are vulnerable you MIGHT be able to phone tesco and get put on their delivery saver list (currently it's paused but phoning may help. At the very least they might give you a priority slot. I did this for my mum, we didn't shop at Tesco but I phoned for her, and they put her on with no hassle, so she can always get a delivery. HELP & ADVICE The lockdown Rules. Reasons to leave home include:
Work or volunteering where it is "unreasonable" to work from home. This includes work in someone else's home, such as that carried out by social workers, nannies, cleaners and tradespeople
Education, training, childcare and medical appointments and emergencies
Exercise outdoors (limited to once a day). This includes meeting one other person from another household in an open public space to exercise
Shopping for essentials such as food and medicine
Communal religious worship
Meeting your support or childcare bubble. Children can also move between separated parents Activities related to moving house
I want to add, if you are in danger you are also allowed (and must!) to get away from the situation for some reason, BBC seems to have missed this very important thing (or I am blind)
FOR THOSE SHIELDING YOU CAN CONTACT THEROYAL VOLUNTARY SERVICE. These people helped my mother with picking up her medicine from the chemist. They were very helpful and went out their way to keep in touch and do it immediately. (It's the only experience I have with them though) _riotingpacifist wanted these links added, but I simply just don't have the time to vet and check all the suggestions here, so I will link as is:
Krita Arguably the best in my opinion. It has a load of options, brushes and a decent UI. It works fantastic with a tablet.
Gimp This is a decent program but last I used, the UI was a pain, and it isn't so user friendly while misses features, but it works, and it is possible to do some incredible creations on it.
Medibang Paint This is slightly geared towards Comics and Manga. I really enjoy using this with my drawing Tablet. As far as I know, it also for regular tablets for Android/Ipad and is free.
You can pick up a drawing tablet on Amazon quite cheap these days! Small ones that are just a black slate such as the wacom ones are good but takes some practice to get use to, but very worth it if you can't afford a dedicated drawing tablet with a screen. Office suit software A couple of free applications for word processing, spreadsheets etc.
LibreOfficeThis has most the average user would need to write their own books or to work from home. There's not a huge amount of difference between the two I'm linking (since I last used anyway) so it's more for preference.
Open Office You can pick this up here and again, like above it's just preference.
Music Making I'm going to direct to matthewharris806 for some links as all the programs I've used like Reason are expensive, or cheaper stuff in bundles such as Magix software. Games development D_Dad_Default gives some links for that here
Alright Cosmonaut I have no hate for at all, I used to watch his channel and I just drifted away gradually, for no reason really I just did. I checked out this video because I love Jojo's and my god I didn't like this one. I know its been a while since its release but I just need to get my thoughts out there (I think MangaKamen also did a video about it but I haven't seen it yet). There are so many weird things he says, stuff that's blatantly wrong etc. Remember there's no hate here he seems like a cool dude, he just made a bad video imo. I love this series and I am aware of its flaws but I do feel a lot of his points also is shared with a lot of people and I want to disprove many of the ones I think are unfair and untrue to the series and give Jojos its deserved credit as I feel its a much better series than many think. Like people say its overrated and I disagree, a lot of people just kinda see it as a meme series and even a guilty pleasure, it doesn't really have that prestigious aura around it like series like One Piece and Hunter X Hunter. Parts 1+2 Section: "I don't like the way Araki writes his side characters. While I love Joseph, I cant say I feel anything for anybody else." Now I don't really mind this statement and this is during Part 2 (he improved massively with each part eventually getting to the point where in Part 5 the main cast was full of memorable and great characters) and I agree that Araki's character writing especially side characters was pretty weak back then aside from a few notable exceptions like Jonathan, Rio Zeppeli, Dio, Wham, Stroheim and Joseph. Part 3 Section: "Part 3 is kinda stinky. Its bloated, its very long for no reason" There is a reason though. Its a monster of the week road trip spanning across 50 days and the timeline is pretty much that. But this I also feel is a pretty popular opinion which I heavily disagree with, so many people call Part 3 repetitive and bloated but its a monster of the week and very episodic, its not really meant to be binged especially the manga and for its time it was very creative as anyone could be a threat like a baby, a doll, a dog, etc where many other shonen where if you werent an alien or a martial artist you were useless. Also Part 3 I feel has so many fun fights that are really different from each other to like Ebony Devil's clash with Polnareff, Hanged Man, Death 13, and most of the Egyptian Gods were fantastic like both Darbys, Pet Shop, Bastet and Geb. I feel Part 3 gets too much flak and not many realise just how many good fights are in there. "There isn't enough traits or characteristics to get me interested in Jotaro as a main character" Like ok he isn't the most complex or anything but this is underselling him a bit. He's introduced as a seemingly generic tough guy but then you realize he locked himself up just so he wouldn't hurt anyone else because of his stand, notices when his mum is pale and asks about it, goes on a death defying journey for her and actually develops from being really anti social to opening up a lot more. He really seems to become more comfortable with the crew as he goes on as Araki stated that Jotaro doesn't really express much as he thinks other people will just get it from his body language which could explain social awkwardness. And also for most people that watched the anime they missed all the scenes where Jotaro was really expressive in the manga as Star Platinum is smiling all the damn time and shows how pumped up Jotaro is behind his facade and he usually smiles and laughs a ton with them. I honestly don't get why the anime did this. Also he states he didnt care for the side characters again which...alright but i mean I loved Polnareff who I feel is one of Araki's best characters due to his fun personality, development, exciting fights and creativity and has a really tragic end in the part which is weird that Cosmonaut never mentions as I thought this is what he wanted from the previous side characters. He calls Polnareff a Funny Coward...yeah. The guy who goes out to the world and fights many battles where he will most likely die just to avenge his sister, is shown to be so honorable he would rather let himself burn than stab himself and fights stand users countless times with no fear like when he instantly knew Anubis was following him and was ready to fight. Also the Vanilla Ice fight. Just that whole fight. Both Iggy and Avdol died and Polnareff was wrecked. But what did he do? He got back up and walked to DIO who to his knowledge is way more powerful than the guy that slaughtered two of his friends and almost beat him and he is all alone while doing it. Yeah sorry Cosmonaut but that was a stupid statement and not true in the slightest. Also he calls Speedwagon a crazy murderer that turns into a funny coward and this is also hilariously wrong. Speedwagon grew up in the roughest part of London and sees a man who is really honorable and actually spares him and so dedicates himself to protecting Jonathan and helping him on his quest against Dio. You know? The journey full of vampires and monsters that Speedwagon never once opted to get out of? "Character arcs do not exist in this series" Dio, Wham, Jotaro, Polnareff, Iggy, Koichi, Yukako, Rohan, Okuyasu, Fungami, Abbachio, Narancia, Mista, Bruno, Trish, Jolyne, Foo Fighters, Weather and Annasui and that's just the parts he read. "Goku and Luffy stay relatively the same throughout but change little bits whenever they encounter different situations and parts of the story" You mean like when Jonathan tried to be nice and a push over to Dio but eventually couldn't take it and beat the shit out of him? You mean like when Joseph started thinking of others other than himself for once after the Wham fight? You mean like how Jotaro becomes more comfortable and open? Also Goku and Luffy are both from very very long shonen where they have way more time to grow than an average Jojo who just has one part "the only thing you'll get is an evil character becoming nice" Once again my previous listing of all the characters that developed disprove this. "Most of the characters die unceremoniously. A lot of Jojo deaths are there for shock value" Ok this was one of the few points that actually annoyed especially since he played Avdol's death while he said this. Every death in Jojos that's important is well important and means something and just because a lot of them happen quickly isn't a bad thing like he states it is. Danny really saddened Jonathan and showed how far Dio would go, George's and Rio's deaths had a profound impact on Jonathan, Jonathan's death even hit Dio quite hard, Caesar goes without saying, Wham had a nice death showing his kinder side and Joseph's respect, Avdol sacrificed himself for Polnareff directly going against his own orders and in his last moments of life chose to let Polnareff live instead of himself. And you got Iggy. This dog who is so selfish and hates that hes forced along this journey, he barely works with them and constantly acts rudely but after defeating Pet Shop in one of the most brutal fights (he lost a paw) of the series is now determined to fight Dio but as the weakens and loses blood Polnareff a guy he fought with constantly chooses to let Iggy go on without him and accepts his death. Iggy then saves Polnareff using all of his energy and for the first time thinks for someone other than himself and realizes that Polnareff has a much better chance at winning and cant let himself live and selflessly sacrifices himself for Polnareff. He made the mature decision to sacrifice himself for Polnareff. "Atleast in Parts 1 and 2 the Zeppeli's deaths motivated the characters to keep going while in Part 3 they drop like flies" as I stated Avdol and Iggy had a profound impact on Polnareff and motivated him heavily to keep going even against Dio. And Kakyoin's deaths was very important as Kakyoin in his dying breaths gave Joseph the clue to Dio's power (you know, the ability they've been wondering for and desperately wanted the whole time!?) which helped Jotaro. "the middle section of Stardust Crusaders is goddamn boring. Most of the stands are lame and too simple" I don't get this either. In the middle of SC you get stands like Justice a fog like stand that controls people through their wounds, Lovers an insect stand that controls your nerves and attaches your pain to your opponent, The Sun which while comedic definitely wasn't boring, Death 13 which is a dream stand that makes you forget its existence when you wake up and is also controlled by a baby, Judgement a literal corrupt genie, High Priestess a small stand that can turn into any metal object like even minerals in the ocean and then you get great ones like Geb which is one of the best fights in the series, Oingo Boingo which was hilarious, Bastet a plug stand that makes you a giant magnet, Set a shadow stand that makes you way younger in like a second and of course Darby which is a fantastically suspenseful game of poker which is some of Araki's best writing ever. He also states that compared to a lot of the villains the mcs stands weren't that creative which alright fine I guess but how the stands were used is why they are great and fun to watch especially Polnareff's fights. "The end shows that this part didn't need to be so long." The length and amount of fights and screen time of the characters makes the Vanilla Ice fight and ending hit way harder though. "In Part 2 everything was there for a purpose. Nothing wasted your time like Part 3" Once again they are different types of story. Part 2 is a serialized story and Part 3 is a monster of the week road trip story. Part 3 isn't meant to be binged, you're just meant to chill and watch each fight and enjoy spending time with their characters on their fun roadtrip. Part 4 Section: "Part 4 is the perfect balance of mundane with the strange which is what Jojo's needs" ...Why? "Part 4 has the most consistent art up to this point" Yeah its very consistent. Joking aside I still kinda disagree as I feel Part 2 had the most consistent art. Part 1 started out looking really weird and janky but ended looking really clean (late art style) and Part 3 started out with weird designs for Jotaro, Kakyoin and Avdol and grew to be way more clean, stylish and nice to look at (late stardust crusaders + early diu is probably my favorite era of jojos art). The Golden Wind Section: (oh boy) "Part 4 is still good with bad translations." Yeah no. That's blind favoritism because you already read the part's actual translations I'm guessing and Part 5 had extremely bad translations where the story and even characters were changed a lot for the worse and were made way less understandable. There is a reason why people used to be so negative on it and now with the anime making it a lot clearer and with much improved translations why the critical outlook on this part has changed. He calls Fugo a calm cool guy...the guy who stabbed someone in the face with a fork because of him getting a maths question wrong. The guy who beat a professor half to death with a dictionary. The guy who has so much pent up anger that his stand is literally a demon that kills anything that comes near it. Also Bruno is so much more than a calm cool guy. Thats a really superficial look at one of Araki's best characters. He's a guy who chose his father to live it even though living with his mum would've been way better but did it anyways because he felt bad for his dad and wanted to be there for him. Almost lost that dad to crime which involved drugs and has for his whole life wanted to stop the drug trade but had to keep his head down. Bruno's kindness later went on to help bring in many social rejects like Narancia, Fugo, Mista and Abbachio a previous cop who is now left suicidal and depressed and Bruno accepts everyone of them and they all grow to care about each other. They all actually feel like real friends even when we see them for the first time. They know each other's quirks, have good chemistry and Fugo stabbing Narancia isnt really seen as a big deal which could also show the abuse they have went though in their daily lives. Anyways Bruno wanted to stop the drug trade as it was killing and ruining many innocent families but couldn't find an opportunity until Giorno came and of course you all know what happened afterwards where the man gave up his own life just so Giorno can finish the job. Narancia and Mista are funny cowards apparently? Of course this is obviously bull. Narancia had plenty of dangerous fights and he was nowhere near scared. Remember when he stabbed out his own tongue against an enemy? Remember when he was literally shrinking and still fought off an enemy straight away and even bloody fought off a big spider? Also Mista is like the bravest dude ever. Dude constantly puts himself out there like did you even read the White Album fight and Kraftwerk? "Giorno and Bruno should be merged into one character. Giorno has no traits. He is just a guy." This makes no sense at all. They both serve completely different things to the story of Golden Wind. Giorno is the guy who comes in and inspires the whole gang to become better people and to become braver and move on against Diavolo and sacrifice themselves for the greater good because of his charisma and coolness. Remind you of anyone? DIO! Bruno is one of those who is inspired as he clearly states after his fight with Giorno, his fight against Diavolo and his second death. "Araki's writing becomes garbage here. He abandons a character because he is too op." This is also blatantly false. In Bunko Volume 10, Araki explains that the plot originally had Fugo working as a spy for Diavolo that Giorno would have eventually been forced to kill. Having gone through grim feelings at the time, Araki couldn't handle the thought of betrayal of a dear friend and felt that the readers would have been disappointed had he followed through, thus the goodbye scene at the quay of San Giorgio Maggiore happened. This was just one Google search. Would it kill you to research Marcus? And I like the fact that Fugo stays behind. It makes sense for his character who is very logical and obviously wouldn't wanna go on what was essentially a suicide mission against the boss of many powerful stand users who himself owns one. Also Fugo's stand wouldn't have helped matters and would've been killed off first by Diavolo. Purple Haze is nothing to King Crimson, its not because he was op. Fugo staying behind brought more stakes to the story and made the gang's decision feel like even more of a big deal. "Why is the main villain introduced halfway through the story? We don't have enough time to develop him. Dio is the best villain because he have the most time dedicated to fleshing him out." N O. Diavolo's whole point was to be a mystery. His birth, childhood, personality, body, even his stand is full of contradictions and its all meant to be creepy and weird. His name means the devil and there have been many theories on what he is (King Crimson coming to life and taking over Doppio? Diavolo is his evil personality? Diavolo is the devil?) and thats the whole point of Diavolo. To make you think and question his existence. His whole point was that he wanted to hide from society, get all the money, live an isolated and lonely existence with no relationships as he would risk heartbreak and other painful emotions like that which goes against the theme of the gang who through their friendship, comradery and sacrifice win against many obstacles and protect Trish. Also his stand shows how he goes against fate and cheats unlike Giorno who uses his fate to his best advantage and inspires everyone to better themselves to achieve something great and that's why the arrow chooses Giorno at the end. Also man that's cool and all that you like DIO a lot but Yoshikage Kira from Part 4 (the part that you really liked) is widely seen as better and Jojo's best villain next to Pucci and Valentine and we didnt even see him until the second half. Sure he had a lot of screen time but he wasn't meant to be as mysterious or as much as an anomaly as Diavolo. "How many times does Mista die in Part 5?" Like twice I think? Not even? First time against Prosciutto which I'll give you. He clearly got shot in the head and was treated as a death scene until Mista was surprise revealed to be alive. I agree with you on that. The second time was against White Album when he got shot lots of the times at the end but this one is fine because we clearly see from the last bullet that Giorno saves him. So yeah. 155 chapters and Mista has one fakeout death and a second close call one. It's nowhere near as bad as you say man. "Why does Polnareff turn into a turtle?" It was explained? Chariot Requiem makes you switch bodies. Polnareff and Coco Jumbo were both at the Colosseum and were pretty close to each other and...yeah that's it really. "Its not cute anymore. It's not a feature to be weird, it is now a bug." I mean if you gave a couple of examples your point would be better. All you mentioned was fake out deaths which Mista only had one and Bruno to but he did die he was just kept as a zombie and that was actually explored and added to as it helped him in his fight with Secco when he blew out his eardrums and Polnareff turning into a turtle which was clearly explained. That's it. Are you not going to mention any of the stands maybe? The users? The turtle that has a small room in him? Giorno making infinite Coco Jumbos? The clothes? "Araki's art takes a nosedive near the end of the part. I can't understand what the hell is going on most of the time" I'll agree with this actually. Araki's art in this part especially in black and white is pretty messy near the end but he could have shown off better panels to illustrate this point. Like he showed Mista and Ghiaccio shooting each other but that looks pretty clear to me? "Why should I care about the fights if I don't care about the characters and the story!?" I mean tbf you generalized the characters a lot to pretty unfair superficial levels. I already explained why Fugo, Bruno and Giorno didn't deserve that and even Mista, Abbachio and Narancia are pretty great. My favorite thing about Part 5 is the main cast. They all have vastly different personalities, motivations, and backstories that greatly explain them like Narancia being abandoned and lonely, Abbachio's idealism being crushed and loss of trust and Mista just guiding through life and trying to find a purpose. All great stuff and even then the fights are at their best in Part 5 for me. The story is really fast paced and each fight is important to the plot. I don't want to get too in depth so I'll be quick. Giorno vs Bruno - establishes their characters and gets Giorno closer to Passione Giorno vs Black Sabbath - Giorno gets into Passione and Polpo dies and we see Giorno's kinder side as he wants to avenge the janitor Bruno and Abbachio vs Soft Machine - establishes Abbachio's character and issue of trust and Bruno's way of leading and makes them realizes that assassins are after them Mista vs Kraftwerk - shows off Mista's character and quirks and plays with his stand in really fun ways Narancia vs Little Feet - Narancia having to prove himself, showing how far he'll go to win and not fail the mission and his sheer bravery and of course introduces La Squadra (best villain group in Jojos btw) Man in the Mirror - establishes Abbachio and Giorno's dynamic better, gives Fugo some shine and they all work together and grow better as a team Grateful Dead and Beach Boy - I mean this fight is fantastic on it's own. It develops Pesci well as a villain and shows his growth as an assassin, Prosciutto is a really cool older brother and mentor figure, its on a train so its automatically exciting and of course cements Bruno as the leader of the group and his care for them Babyface - this one isn't too important but it does give Giorno his own fight and shows him develop his ability more as he learns from Babyface who also grows during the fight White Album - I mean this is one of the series best fights ever. And it also shows off Giorno and Mista's dynamic and actually perfectly encapsulates Giorno's role in the story as he inspires Mista through his resolve which pushes him on to sacrifice himself and win the day King Crimson - introduces Diavolo and his ability. And it steers the story in the next direction as everyone turns traitor (except Fugo) Talking Head and Clash - develops Narancia into a braver figure and helps his trust in Giorno Notorious B.I.G. - gives Trish much needed development and her own stand and crashes a plane Metallica - this is my personal favorite Jojo fight possibly ever. The two stands at play, Risotto's character, the strategies used and how the stands are used, I love it so goddamn much. It just works and it finishes off La Squadra, shows off Doppio and Diavolo's deal and kills off Abbachio and gives him some nice development before he dies as trusts Giorno to figure out what he leaves behind and meets his partner in heaven Green Day - shows off how depraved Diavolo's forces are and gets us the 7 page muda. Oasis - Bruno uses his new zombie powers to his advantage The Arrow - this is of course the final battle so its obviously important. Narancia dies young and its very tragic as he deserved a better life, Diavolo gets punished for cheating fate as Bruno leaves this world and GER takes care of business. Rolling Stones - finishes off the story in a really nicely told and themed story and explains why this story was fated to happen and Giorno's impact. So yeah. Every fight is indeed important and uses the story and characters well. "Part 5 is basically Part 3 again." HOW!? The only similarity is that its Jojos and its monster of the week but its executed differently. Part 3 is a massive roadtrip, very comedic and each stand user has little to do with each other and are largely seperate while in Part 5 its one long continuing narrative that's really fast paced and the main villains of the first half are a group of assassins are La Squadra and second half is Diavolo and the story constantly changes to keep fresh and its overall much darker, more character rich and more thematically complex than Part 3. "It ends with some bull Deux ex Machina." Except GER isn't a deux ex machina. The arrow was built up and explained to give you the power you wanted and needed. Kira got Bites the Dust to protect his identity, Chariot Requiem was to keep the arrow away from Diavolo and GER was to counter Diavolo's time skip. They all are really powerful and get the user what they most want and need. Ending Section: He then goes on to say he binged through the series in two months which is a shame since Jojos isnt really a series thats meant to be binged especially after Part 2. If you get burned out, just take a break man. Don't finish a whole part out of spite man. No wonder it turned you off the series. Which is a shame I feel like he's kinda being unfair because he goes on to say he didn't really care about Part 6 and read it when he's feeling bored and exhausted of the series and of course reading it still would ruin your experience and I feel he should've taken a break for a while. Like I love One Piece but eventually you get a bit worn out from a series and take a break (for me it was Fishman Island. Took a few weeks off and came back and continued to love it again) so it will remain fresh as I feel Part 6 is a pretty fun part to. It has a great Jojo, great main villain and a pretty fun story with some creative as hell stands and my favorite ending of any Jojo part. He then shows a screenshot of a person not liking an anime because of a weird trope and a guy recommends Jojo as well its a pretty unique series and not all anime are the same but Cosmonaut gets the impression that they're recommending Jojos to newbies to anime and even then I don't get the problem. Anime is weird. Jojos is a pretty fun anime. Watch/read it. You might enjoy it. And thats about it really. And what I find a massive shame is Cosmonaut quitting the series. I mean he enjoyed Phantom Blood, really enjoyed Battle Tendency, really liked Stardust Crusaders from Pet Shop onwards, loved DIU (which is the longest shonen manga part yet complains about SC and GW being too long) and he might really enjoy SBR and Jojolion. Those two are fantastic imo and Araki has really grown and improved as a writer and artist and SBR is genuinely a fantastic manga full of arcs, a good story, great characters and a good ending which is a lot of the stuff that Cosmonaut felt was missing. And hey Part 8 is set in Morioh and is just as crazy and as fun as Part 4 was so he might actually like Part 8 a lot more than most of the other parts. Like the quality of SBR and Jojolion is pretty high most of the time and much higher than the shonen parts. It would be nice if Cosmonaut saw this (most likely won't though) and tried out Parts 7 and 8 especially 8 i think he'll like that one a lot and its a shame he got really burned out of it and he got turned off by the fanbase which happens to a lot of popular series. Usually fanbases are really annoying and its usually the vocal minority and you shouldn't judge series based on them and I do feel Parts 7 and 8 are a massive improvement and he did really enjoy parts 1+2+4 like I said before. So yeah, that's it
Sometime back, I had made a post about romance anime with happy endings. Since then, I have watched quite a few more and decided to make an updated post with a little more detail. This time, I will categorise them a little differently. For example, people might be looking for a romance anime that is light on drama or an action-romance. In all of these recommendations, the ship sails (in the anime itself). That is the main point of this post. I will also put a (*) where the main ship gets together early on. These are all anime which I have watched myself so I can guarantee that the ship sails AND it ends happily. Romantic comedies: These are the ones which actually have a comedy component to them and keep you smiling throughout.
Kaichou wa Maid-sama! - This, for me, is the very definition of a rom-com. It is definitely cliched. But it makes you laugh and feel good. There are romantic moments between the two main characters throughout. No pointless fights. Watching them grow closer together was just amazing! It is adapted from the manga of the same name but it has an ending unique to itself. Strongly recommend the manga too.
Tonikaku Kawaii* - It recently finished airing and is the story of a just married couple. It's filled to the brim with cute, romantic moments. Manga is also amazing.
Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii* - Office romance. Two couples. Super cute. Not much drama. Focus is almost exclusively on these couples. Must-watch.
Science Fell In Love, So I Tried To Prove It - Extremely enjoyable with good humour. I loved the main "couple". It's a must watch for nerds and again is filled to the brim with romantic interactions between the two MCs. It's a nice change of pace since it's about master's degree students.
The Recovery of an MMO Junkie - About two adults who meet through a video game. The interactions were by and large adorable and nothing felt too dragged on. Very enjoyable.
Boarding School Juliet* - A twist on the tale of Romeo and Juliet. It was so enjoyable and the chemistry between the two MCs is so good. The anime doesn't adapt the entire manga but it ends at a good place. I highly recommend reading the manga.
Ao-chan Can't Study! - Slightly ecchi (not too much). Very entertaining with short episodes (12 minutes each). There were loads of cute moments and there wasn't much drama. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Tsurezure Children - Focuses on a few high-school couples. Very enjoyable. If you want a conclusion for some of the couples, you'll have to read the manga but the anime as a standalone is very enjoyable too and gives a conclusion to a few of them.
Romantic dramas: These are the ones where there is a lot of drama involved; fights, jealousy and sorting out feelings.
Nagi no Asu kara - One of the best romantic dramas out there. It makes your heart twist and turn and experience a different set of emotions. It's all about understanding your feelings and the common desire to resist change. Believe me, it is worth the watch.
ReLife - It's hard to use words to describe how amazing this show was. Ever wished you could redo high-school? You can't, but you can watch someone else do it. Love, friendship, fights, jealousy, happiness, sadness - ReLife has it all. Although the manga is more extensive (I certainly recommend reading it), the anime is beautiful too. (Ensure you watch until the very last second of episode 17)
Brighter than the Dawning Blue aka Crescent Love* - This is an anime which I feel is not spoken about enough in the romance genre. It is short (12 episodes), sweet, strongly focused on romance and not without drama. The drama is not overdone and is mostly about the main couple overcoming various obstacles. The main couple is one of the sweetest anime couples I have seen.
Oregairu - Although some might disagree, it will be remembered for a long time as one of THE rom-coms. I haven't put it in the previous category solely because I felt it was more of a drama than a comedy. Again, it is about growth, jealousy, love and a lot of things we've experienced in high school.
Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai* - Rascal Doesn't Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is also one of the best romances I've seen. The main couple get together midway into the show and their relationship shows quite good development throughout. The movie Rascal Doesn't Dream of a Dreaming Girl is a must watch. Has a happy ending but fair warning: have a tissue box ready.
Saekano - Saekano (How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend) was a thoroughly moving story with one of the best romances I've seen. I cannot recommend this enough. You will have to watch the movie to get a conclusion to the romance but it is extremely worth it. Like Oregairu, it does away with a lot of the classic tropes one sees in romance anime.
Toradora! - It is very different from Oregairu, yet it captures a very similar spirit. Again, I don't really consider it a rom-com. Some might not like the female MC's personality but I think their entire story was really cute. Enjoy how the dragon tames the tiger.
Tsuki ga Kirei* - Relive the rollercoaster of emotions of your middle-school love. This is the story of how two middle-schoolers met and fell in love. There is jealousy, there is drama. But it is not pointless and is in fact very realistic.
Amagami SS and Amagami SS Plus - Omnibus format. I watched the arcs of the girls I liked and quite enjoyed it. They achieve quite a lot with 4 + 2 episodes for each girl.
Seiren - Similar to Amagami SS although I watched all three arcs for the three girls. I quite enjoyed it. I do recommend Amagami and Seiren for those looking for a quick romance.
Konbini Kareshi - It was a good multiple couple romance with good emphasis on both the pairings. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone. Don't listen to the mean reviews on MyAnimeList.
Kokoro Connect - Quite a twisted anime which I liked quite a bit. Has supernatural elements and two of the characters end up together. I liked the ship although some of you may not.
Special A - It's a sweet anime. I found myself moderately annoyed at times cause the female MC was so dense. The main couple gets together at the end though and that was quite nice.
3D Kanojo: Real Girl* - It has a happy, conclusive ending. It is relatively dramatic but I enjoyed the ride nonetheless. A worthwhile watch. Like with ReLife, ensure you watch until the very end.
Orange - It was one of the first anime I watched. Quite dramatic but has a good romance. It ends well but is likely to leave you in happy tears. There is also the movie Orange: Mirai, which is worth watching.
Itazura na Kiss* - One of the few anime which goes all the way from high-school to adulthood. The male MC is a big asshole sometimes which can be a huge turn off. He does change significantly towards the end and it makes for a sweet story.
Just Because! - It has a happy and conclusive ending but it doesn’t have what I would consider many happy romantic moments. A lot of it is about people sorting out their feelings for each other. If you’re looking for something feel-good, I don’t recommend it. If you’re looking for something realistic, I certainly do. I feel more could have been done for the main couple’s romance. It is a lot like Nagi no Asu kara.
Tada Never Falls in Love - While there is one major plot-hole at end, the anime is overall very sweet, has a good focus on building the romance and it has a rather happy ending.
Itsudatte Bokura no Koi wa 10 cm Datta - What most romance anime take 12 episodes or 24 episodes to achieve, 'Our love has always been 10 cm apart' achieves in just 6. Just like any other romance anime, the cliches are present but I found the story to be quite unique. There are plenty of emotional moments and drama but I felt they fit into the story. Just like the others, we have a happy ending which was quite satisfying.
Dusk Maiden of Amnesia - definitely one of the weirder romance anime I’ve watched. But it was enjoyable and the emphasis on romance was there throughout. Genre is romance/horror but it wasn’t particularly scary or anything.
Myself; Yourself - It's an anime I liked quite a bit. The romance isn't at the forefront all the time. The character development is good and each has their backstory and a slight trauma they want to overcome. Keep in mind that there are themes of suicide. The main characters end up together and the scene in the last episode is beautiful.
Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate - Love, Elections and Chocolate is amongst my recently watched anime. I liked it albeit not to the extent I liked some of the others. The romance is decent and the characters end up together (it is implied but obvious enough).
A Bridge to the Starry Skies - If there's one thing I've realised it's that romance anime based on visual novels aren't all that great (barring a few exceptions like Brighter than the Dawning Blue). It is a harem anime and each of the girls is given a certain amount of development. This is not entirely a bad thing. Each of the girls is nice and the MC isn't falling all over them. His focus is on one girl. That being said, given the nature of such anime, you might find that there isn't much time given to the main couple. This also applies to Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate. I would go for the visual novel based romance anime after exhausting the rest.
Fantasy/Action Romance: These are the ones which either don't take place in our world (fantasy worlds/isekai) or have action involved.
Grancrest Senki* - It's an action, fantasy romance with a moderately strong focus on romance. I absolutely loved the romance aspect of it. It was well developed without any jealousy shenanigans. The main couple is one of my favourites. It's an amazing watch if you want to get away from high-school romances and also if you're into fantasy and war. I went into it just for the romance and was not disappointed.
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry* - The most popular action romance and not without reason. It is really amazing and one of the few anime of its type. The main characters' chemistry is special. The anime doesn't adapt the entire manga but the anime content ends at a good place.
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime* - A truly heartwarming story. It's not overly dramatic and the romance is pretty brilliantly written. While the ending of the anime in season 2 is not conclusive in that sense, the romance starts quite soon and most of the anime is about the moments between the two leads. I absolutely loved it.
Sword Art Online* - Some love it, some hate it. I fall into the former category. It's not as harem as some suggest and the romance between the two MCs is just adorable. I consider it a must watch anime anyway.
Kenja no Mago* - Isekai anime with a nice romance. Main couple gets together during the show. From a story point the anime is incomplete but the romance is there. Gets way more hate than it deserves. I really enjoyed the show and its MAL score doesn't do it justice.
Twin Star Exorcists - It was a good watch. I enjoyed seeing the growth of the two main characters and their relationship grow. However, don’t watch it if it’s only for the romance. In a 50 episode anime, it’s not until the last 10 episodes that there’s much romance. Keep in mind it is an extremely slow-burn romance. Most of the content was original and many say the manga is far superior. I haven't read the manga so I won't comment.
Zetsuen no Tempest - Not a very strong focus on the romance but the romantic progress is there. It was a very interesting watch to say the least.
Movie Romances:
Kimi no Na wa - Is there anything I can say about this movie other than beautiful? If you haven't watched it already, what are you doing?
Tenki no Ko - By the same director as Kimi no Na wa. Brilliant in its own right with stunning visuals and a lovely story. Very moving.
Summer Wars - Compared to the previous three, a very lighthearted romcom movie. I quite enjoyed myself.
Hello World - sci-fi romance anime. I was a bit confused at times but it was sweet.
I've Always Liked You - It's by the same studio as 'Our love has always been 10cm apart'. It's a one hour film which I really enjoyed.
P.S. I have watched Clannad but I haven't yet found the heart to watch After Story. Feel free to add your own recommendations in the comments below!

I'm not a Naruto super-fan. I've only binge-read the series a year ago and while I liked it, it was pretty clear to me that the only part of it that was consistently good was Part 1, while Part 2 was a big mess with a few diamonds in the rough. This problem is at the heart of this character rant. In the Chuunin Exam arc, we are introduced to the other Genin that live in the Leaf Village, most of them having a distinct design, interesting personalities and all around making for a well-rounded cast that compliments the expanded world-building of this arc. One of the Genin I related the most to was Hinata Hyuga, the shy one with self-esteem issues. In my opinion she is a great example of what makes a good Naruto character: her conflict is extremely relatable, she's likeable, has a place in the cast and her motivation ties directly to what at the time were the themes of the show. Just like how many have felt like Naruto or Rock Lee in our lives, I'm sure many have felt like Hinata too: afraid of everyone's expectations, feeling like they've let down their family, etc. Her crush on Naruto is an important part of her character at this point, though it's only because of her other character traits and it's not all that she is. The scene where Naruto has a cute conversation with her before he faces Neji convinced me Kishimoto could pull of romance in a way that wasn't as stupid as Sakura's simping for Sasuke. Then came the timeskip. As with every one of her peers not named Shikamaru, Hinata was put on the sidelines. receiving virtually zero focus aside from a few minor appearances. A questionable way to handle the love interest of your main character, but that's not the worst part. Fast forward to the Pain arc: to many, this is the best arc in Naruto but I can't say I feel the same for many reasons, one of which is Hinata's "declaration of war". Now keep in mind that this is a character who hasn't received focus for more than 300 chapters, who now sweeps in when Naruto is in danger, tries to protect him while saying that she loves him, then gets almost killed to drive Naruto into a crazed rage. I hate this moment so much, mostly because it comes out of nowhere, but also because it's a cheap way to have Naruto lose control over the Nine Tails when he didn't get nowhere near this angry at Pain after he killed his master and nuked his hometown, but I guess impaling the girl he barely even talks to is where he crosses the line. The worst part is that the two of them don't even talk about this when the fight is over. The girl confessed her love in front of everyone yet no mention of it is made ever again. It's the very definition of a "Big Lipped Alligator Moment". Fast forward again to the Fourth Great Ninja War arc, the worst thing to come out of this series. Here, Neji dies in a laughable way that is clearly meant as both the cheapest way possible to raise the stakes of the conflict without actually killing off an important character or building up to an emotional moment, and the cheapest way possible to make it seem like Naruto and Hinata have any semblance of romance and chemistry at this point, in a very fan fiction-like moment where the two hold hands. Then we get to the ending (and Boruto, which I haven't read nor watched but know a few things about it), where Hinata is less of a ninja and more of a housewife. So we had this interesting, relatable character with lots of potential and a good possible love interest for our protagonist, and she got turned into a big titty Yamato Nadeshiko who's only personality trait is that she likes Naruto, a change clearly made to make teenage boys go "wow, I want an Hinata too!". This whole thing is because of one of Kishimoto's many problems as a writer: his female characters. Now I'm a guy, so I'm not gonna pretend I'm a master writer of female characters, and in most Shonen I'm fine with the girls receiving less focus or not being as strong as the guys: after all, the genre is literally called "Young Man". What I am not ok with is when these characters become offensively bad and stop resembling real life people. Naruto's women are, for the most part, annoying, incompetent, useless to both the narrative and the characters in the story, uninteresting, underdeveloped and, for the most part, solely defined by the connection they have to certain men. Kishimoto has admitted to being bad at romance, using it as an excuse to not develop the romances he introduces in the story, one of which is the entire motivation of the tritagonist, which begs the question of why he even introduced romance in his story in the first place. The creator of One Piece, Oda, has stated the same thing and look at that, his manga isn't plagued by a terrible romance plot. Sakura's character arc is that she likes Sasuke, and her arc ends with her having a baby with Sasuke. repeat this with the other female characters of her age in the Leaf Village, except for Ten Ten, the one who receives the least focus and curiously has no romance plotline nor baby put inside of her. I could've chosen any other girl from this manga to rant about. I could've talked about how Sakura is a terrible character in all aspects, how Tsunade doesn't compare to her peers, how Karin is one of the worst female characters in fiction. But I decided to talk about Hinata because originally she wasn't like this. She was her own character and her crush was actually handled pretty well. But like most things in Part 2, she became a shadow of her former self.
I saw a post by u/jinsmangoricbe saying how they'd love a master thread of idols being supportive of LGBTQ+ and I felt super compelled to do it so here it is! Of course this won't be a comprehensive list with every single idol ever but I will try my best to list down as many as possible. I will go through the groups I know from A-Z and try to include groups I'm not familiar with as well. I just want to apologize in advance to the fandoms cause I will probably miss a L O T of stuff so feel free to comment whatever I didn't include! I'll edit the post and add them to the list since I want this to be a master thread after all. Also I apologize if I can't find the source for all of them. Some are just things I remember seeing a while back but I'll try my best to include links/sources as much as possible!
